Studio Headshots FAQs

What should I wear?

Don’t be afraid to look awesome! Wear outfits you feel beautiful and comfortable wearing. If you feel beautiful when you up on your outfits and look in the mirror, it will definitely show in your photographs. Don’t try to force yourself into something uncomfortable that you wouldn’t normally wear.

Don’t be afraid of colour. Fun, colourful outfits add an extra pop to your pictures. These pictures will be a reflection of the amazing person you are, so go ahead and have fun with your style and show everyone who you are!

How long will the shoot take?

Depending on which package you choose the shoot shouldn’t take longer than one hour to nintey minutes.

When you arrive I won’t shove my camera in your face straight away, that’s just not right! You’ll have time to get comfortable and adjust yourself to new surroundings whilst having a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Only until you’re ready and feeling relaxed we’ll start. Please arrive in good time so you don’t feel flustered.

I hate having my photo taken!

Don’t worry! You’re not alone feeling this way. It’s perfectly natural.

I will spend time getting to know you before my camera comes out. This is why I’ll send you a questionnaire before your shoot to learn what food, drink and music which will help you feel at ease during the shoot.

When you arrive you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and a quick tour of my studio.

I’ll explain exactly what will happen during the shoot; how I’m going to make it a fun experience by us getting to know each other, you being able to see everything we shoot on a monitor and at the end you’ll be able to make a shortlist of your final images.

How much retouching do you do?

I believe that my job is to enhance your already beautiful natural features.

When you select your images at the end of your shoot, they will go through a two step process.

First step will be basic editing using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom to get the image up to my standard.

These images will then be uploaded to a private secure gallery where you can select your final images.

The second step is (if you want it) for me to apply some cosmetic retouching. I use a program called Perfectly Clear. This programme perfectly smooths skin, whitens teeth and removes dark circles under your eyes.

I use this programme sparingly only to enhanse your natural beauty.

I’m still on the fence about working with you or not. I need further convincing.

My packages include studio or on-location images that have a real focus on you and your brand. I pride myself on my flexibility and can create bespoke packages to fit your plans if you are unable to pick from one of my pre-made packages.

I have been published over 20 times both nationally and internationally. My work has been featured in exhibitions in London and Cambridge, and I have appeared on national TV and radio talking about my work. I have spoken at The Cambridge Marketing Meetup, The WordPress Meetup and Cambridge Business Women, and would love to do more public speaking. I also have run an event titled ‘It’s Not Failing, It’s Learning’, which was a celebration of two years running my business.

I regularly attend networking events in Cambridge and have built a great network full of local professionals. I’m always happy to recommend a fellow person in business and connect you with the right individual or company to solve your issues If I can’t help already.

Please have a look at my testimonials page for feedback my clients have given me.

I’m looking something different than your packages?

Brilliant! I’d love to tailor something bespoke for you. Get in touch and we can discuss this in more detail.

Brand Portrait FAQs

Is everything included in the cost?

The package price includes everything stated in the package. There may be additional costs involved like travel but these will be confirmed if and when they come up.

How much time will the process take?

This depends on which package you choose which starts from one hour up to four. I don’t like rushing at all, so I will spend as long as it takes to get the shot. The session time frames are there to give structure to your shoot. Do take into consideration we’ll need time to get to know each other and the disovery call.

How do you source locations?

Part of your investment is for me to take all the stress out of planning and finding suitable locations. With my connections within the local Cambridge business community I have access to locations other photographers don’t.

I’ve lived in Cambridge for over 17 years so I know where we can go which no one else does.

Who else do you work with?

I work with local Cambridge independent professionals who are the best in the business.

This includes local videographers, editors, copywriters, hair and makeup artists and personal stylists.

Please contact me for more information.

Are you insured?

Yes! I have public liability and professional indemnity cover. All my electronic equipment is annually PAT tested

How do you deliver the images?

Once your images are ready I use a private online gallery which I’ll send you the link to. You’ll be able to download all the images you love, in a range of resolutions suitable for online and print use, and they’ll instantly be ready for you to use.

How do I pay?

When you make a booking, I require 50% of the total invoice to confirm your booking date paid within four (4) working days. This can be paid by card or bank transfer.

Once I’ve completed the shoot and delivered your final images, I require the outstanding balance on your invoice to be paid before I action the secure gallery to be downloadable.

How do I know I can trust you to deliver what I want?

My brand portrait clients experience an entirely unique photoshoot experience, from which they gain a bespoke set of beautiful photographs tailored exactly to their brand.

From start to finish, the entire process is organised by myself and my team, right down to the exact location and setting.

Prior to the shoot, I provide a short questionnaire to all clients so that I can learn about their brand and understand what they want to portray. They will have the opportunity to talk through their ideas, and I will then provide an online mood board for us both to add ideas and inspiration to.

As many of my clients have not had a professional photoshoot before, I also offer advice about how to relax, and how to appear as natural as possible – even if they are feeling nervous (which is totally natural and expected!). I am also able to give my clients advice on what to wear if they wish, and what to expect during a session.

Clients can choose their images at the end of the shoot, and I can offer guidance and advice if they are not sure which ones to pick.

Added value comes from the additional services I offer such as video footage and blogging, which can be used as social media content.

I’m all about creating a fun, relaxed experience that you’ll walk away from feeling empowered, knowing that your true personality has been captured.

Through my photography, I endeavour to tell your story in a unique way. My methods and techniques will help you stand out in a crowded market, and, in turn, enable you to attract your ideal client.

Please have a look at my testimonials page for feedback my clients have given me.

What If I need to reschedule?

If you need to reschedule please let me know 48 hours beforehand and the same goes for me if anything were to come up.

When will I get my photos?

My typical delivery time is (5) five working days.

Once I’ve received your final payment I’ll provide you with a link to your online gallery where you’ll be able to download the images you love.

Do I own the copyright of the images?

All images I create are intended for you to use to promote your business and have a stock of bespoke marketing collateral for you to properly represent your brand.

I take your privacy seriously and within your contract I provide you with options on how you wish I use your images for my own promotional purposes.

I provide you with an exclusive licence of use with no time limit and I retain the ownership of the images.

To understand where you stand with copyright and hiring a photographer please read the AOP Copyright For Clients guide.

Why are you so expensive?

You get what you pay for.

The service I provide is of the highest quality, with customer service a priority. You are not just investing in new images, you are investing in your own brand and business, which in turn makes you money.

There’s also the amount of time and effort you won’t see me working. We might spend an hour together during a session but there’s a lot of hidden time of planning, editing, organising and admin associated with a shoot.

Besides the cost of my equipment (It’s not cheap) I have to pay the same bills as other self-employed people. I need to take the cost of tax, insurance, rent, bills, transport and marketing on my bottom line.

I work with the best and most experienced suppliers who deserve to be paid what they’re worth.

When you hire a photographer, you hire an artist. I’ve spent over 10 years perfecting my craft. I’ve invested a lot of money in learning how to take beautiful images, and when you walk into my studio, I’m going to put time and effort into helping you relax and smile—not rushing you through a session and then spending twice as much time convincing you to buy the add-ons. I am transparent about my pricing.

Why you?

As a leader in my field, I create images that are not only unique and engaging but clearly portray the company’s culture and its values. I understand the current trends in websites and design and incorporate these into my work so that you, my client not only attract the customers they want to deal with but the staff they want to hire.

My ideas for corporate shoots are tried and tested. I have worked with a variety of corporate clients, all of which have had very different briefs, and have achieved exactly what they have asked for, while still incorporating a unique style and level of finesse.

The great news is i’m insured and all my equipment is annually PAT tested.

I provide an itemised list of services which can save your business time with the production of marketing collateral. From this, you can pick and choose what you want depending on your budget and requirements.

What type of imagery do you do?

I specialise in brand portraits and marketing collateral imagery. This is where I completely understand your businesses brand and how you want to be visually perceived. Commonly portrait imagery is taken in your environment.

I also provide the option to bring along my professional studio lighting and backdrop which is the most common setup for headshots.

Depending on your requirements and style I’ll be happy to discuss the pros and cons of both for your business.

Where do you work?

I live and work in Cambridge UK, but I’m happy to travel no matter where you are.

If you are less than 5 miles outside of Cambridge CB4 2HG, you will not incur any travel fees.

If your session is in excess of 5 miles of Cambridge CB4 2HG, you will receive a custom travel invoice and be responsible my travel costs, including but not limited to hotel reservations, local transportation, and a per diem food stipend. All receipts will be provided.

Do you offer discounted rates for charities?

Yes. Please contact me to discuss.

How long will my staff headshots take?

Let’s say for example you have 20 members of staff. I recommend 10 minutes per person. With everything running to time from start to end it would take Three hours and 20 minutes.

Per person, this is not a lot of time at all. But the magic of working with me is that I can help put your staff feel relaxed and at ease quickly. Before the shoot I will email you and your staff a portrait session guide to prepare them and to get the most out of your session.

By adding the option of on site viewing and file administration your staff can pick their images straight after their session and have each image correctly named. This will cut selection time and delivery options in half.

Event Photography FAQs

What type of events do you photograph?

I love variety! My past clients include business award ceremonies, political festivals, education events, university reunions, marketing conventions and lots more. I do lean more towards the corporate side of events but open to all types.

I’ve worked with children and adults in a variety of different situations and I’m experienced with interacting with all types of different participants.

Why should I pick you?

Creating imagery which can be used to evoke that feeling of FOMO from your prospective audience is a fantastic tool for marketing your event, and I will ensure you attract the type of people you want in attendance.

I have a real knack for understanding what you want to achieve and can provide suggestions on how to do this if you’re not sure, or if you have a few loose ideas. Time is not an issue – I will be there for as long as you need me.

I can create images that will conjure up the perfect balance of curiosity and ardour with your audience and will ensure they’re left not just wanting but needing to know more about your event. Let the pictures do the talking – the tickets will sell themselves.

During the event, I will work swiftly and unobtrusively to capture the atmosphere and images you need. I understand how important it is to get these images back to you in a timely manner. I set to work on event images as soon as I am in my studio the following day so that you are all set with your killer marketing material for that press release.

What kind of coverage can you provide?

Depending on your budget and brief I provide a few different options

Event Coverage

I will be at the event as long as you want me capturing the event. I can also provide a second shooter to get another perspective.

Professional Photo Booth

Depending on the type of event your running, I can bring my professional lighting and backdrop to create headshots of your attendees.

If the event is more casual, I’ll provide a professionally lit themed photo booth with themed props and backdrop. Images displayed live on screen. Images posted to secure online gallery same day and link shared will all participants on the day.

Hashtag Mosaic

Attendees use a specific hashtag when sharing images on social media, which gets sent to a printer. The print is a sticky mosaic square with a grid reference. This is then stuck on a customised board creating A real-time, crowd-sourced Mosaic made up your guests own photos. This piece can then be used in an office and also a PDF version is created to use on all social and website channels.

Hashtag Printing

Guests can tag for their photos using the event hashtag and Images are printed when the event hashtags are used. Images are branded.

How many photos will I get?

There’s no limit on the number of images you’ll get. Everything I shoot will be reviewed and images which aren’t up to my standard will be culled. I’ll then edit all the images and deliver them to you via an online secure gallery.

What about GDPR?

On the 25th May 2018 GDPR came into force. This means as an event organiser you need to make your attendees aware that you will be photographing and filming the event for promotional purposes and they need to consent to this.

During the event notices informing the attendees there is filming and photography happening and if they don’t want to be included to let the event organiser or the photographer know.

Working with you I will make sure not to include any individuals who do not want to be photographed.
